To make our wooden rainbow Easter eggs I used: wooden eggs. good quality water colour paint. paint brush. olive oil and beeswax polish. Starting in the middle of the egg I painted a green ring. Not worrying about having clean lines so later the colours would overlap and run, giving the eggs a beautiful organic feel.

STEP 1: Set up a tray with an egg carton (clear plastic or styrofoam will work best) and set up your eggs. STEP 2: Add several drops of food coloring to each egg (this step is optional but very fun for surprise color eruptions). Ready? First off, cook your eggs and peel them right away. I have found that the best way is to place the eggs in a saucepan, cover with water and bring to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes, turn off heat, cover and let stand for 12 minutes. Remove the lid and run TEPID water over them for several minutes to cool them off.

Thread the needle. String on a pom pom ball. Slide it to near the end of the string. Open plastic egg and thread string in one hole and out the other. Close the egg and push it along the string to the pom pom. Continue stringing, alternating pom poms and plastic eggs. End with a pom pom.
